Partnering with Hi-ARTS, we produced the What Is Here Is Open exhibition at the Hunter East Harlem Gallery, featuring a curated selection of items from our Treasures in the Trash collection. The exhibition, co-curated by Alicia Grullón and Nelson Molina, paired the works of seven contemporary NYC-based artists alongside some of Molina’s reclaimed objects, creating an ephemeral conversation about the past, present, and future of East Harlem.

“Molina’s 35-year work of assembling hundreds of discarded personal items into a museum fosters a sense of self-determination and a belief in a resident’s ability to tell their own story of where they live through the objects in the collection and display.”
